Physical Rehabilitation
The Athletic Orthopedics & Knee Center Physical Therapy department is a state-of-the art facility that has been successfully rehabilitating injured persons from Houston and all across the country for over 25 years. At AOKC, we believe in teamwork. Our experienced team of Physical Therapists and Rehabilitation Specialists work together with you to help you to reach peak performance after suffering any type of injury or condition. AOKC Physical Therapy is unique in that your doctor personally consults with your Physical Therapist and with you to custom-tailor the best possible course of treatment for your particular case and your particular injury, ensuring that each patient recieves the highest level of quality care available.
At AOKC, Our goal is to enable you to become stronger, faster, and more balanced than you were even before you were injured. Our facility features advanced equipment such as:
- Biodex KT 1000 Computerized Strength Testing for the knee, ankle, hip, shoulder, elbow, forearm, and wrist;
- Circuit Weight Training Equipment for knee extension, ham curls, inner and outer thighs, back extension, abdominals, cable/pulley system, row/rear deltoid;
- Bench and free weights;
- Cardiovascular equipment including upright and recumbent cycles, UBE aerobic ergometer, treadmills, stairmaster, and other machines;
- Mini Trampoline, Slide Board, Boyd Blade, Pilates Shuttles, Physioballs, Medicine Balls, Rocker Boards, BAPS, and other specific equipment.
Sports Rehabilitation
The specialized Physical Therapists at AOK provide advanced sports rehabilitation for many types of injuries, including ACL Repair, Meniscus Repair/Menisectomy, Rotator Cuff Repair, Acromioplasty, Ligamentous Repairs, and other open and arthroscopic surgeries. We work with a wide variety of athletes at every level in football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, gymnastics, weight lifting, soccer, tennis,cycling, running, swimming, martial arts, dancing, and many others. We are experts at enabling you to return to your sport at peak performance in a safe and expedient manner.
Joint Rehabilitation
AOKC rehabilitation specialists work diligently to quickly return you to work or play. We utilize advanced technology and innovative training techniques to help you heal and to protect the joint from further mechanical injury.
Our team will help you to reduce pain, reduce inflammation, restore your range of motion, maintain muscle responsiveness, build muscle strength, build endurance, restore gait patterns, and restore proprioception in the knee.
Back Rehabilitation
AOK Physical Therapy offers rehabilitation and reconditioning for Cervical, Thoracic, and Lumbar injuries, as well as extensive post-surgical therapy protocols.
Our programs include detailed postural analysis, body mechanics training, injury prevention techniques, and comprehensive strengthening and stabilization.
Injury Rehabilitation
AOKC provides comprehensive injury rehabilitation for the patient injured on the job or in motor vehicle accidents. Physical Therapy of on-the-job injuries includes work-simulated tasks with body mechanics instruction, repetitive use prevention, and ergonomic analysis to prevent re-injury. We will work with both employee and employer to provide Pre-Employment Physicals as well as health promotion activities such as Back School.
Physical Reconditioning
Our diversified team can provide physical reconditioning for a wide variety of conditions. These programs are functionally based and strive to help the patient achieve their highest level of functioning.
- Pre/Post-Op rehabilitation of spinal surgeries, orthopedic and neurological surgeries
- General debilitative conditions and cardiac rehabilitation
- Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, RSD, and chronic pain conditions
- Neurological impairments such as: Neuropathies, Multiple Sclerosis, Post-Stroke
