Background:

A specialist in sports medicine focusing on the shoulder, hip, and knee. Dr. Geyer grew up in the Spring Branch area and attended Second Baptist School for elementary, junior high, and high school. Following graduation from Baylor University with Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors, he returned to Houston to attend Baylor College of Medicine for medical school. Dr. Geyer completed a residency program in orthopaedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center in which he received world class training in all areas of orthopaedics.

While at Duke, he served as a team physician for a local high school as well as for North Carolina Central University and Duke University athletic teams. Dr. Geyer elected to pursue subspecialty training in Sports Medicine and was selected to attend the world-renowned Steadman Clinic Fellowship Program in Vail, Colorado. For one year, he trained with the top orthopaedic surgeons in the world for complex knee and shoulder surgery as well as hip arthroscopy. In addition to clinical sports medicine training, Dr. Geyer worked on projects with the Steadman Philippon Research Institute publishing 2 book chapters and clinical research. He served as a physician for the US Ski and Snowboard teams covering ski and snowboard events at Copper Mountain, Vail, and Beaver Creek in addition to Saas-Fee, Switzerland and Sofia, Bulgaria.

Dr. Geyer returns to Houston to practice sports medicine orthopedics at Athletic Orthopedics and Knee Center. His interests include ACL reconstruction, posterolateral corner reconstruction, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization, shoulder replacements, and hip arthroscopy for the treatment of femoroacetabular impingement and labral tears.

An avid golfer, mountain biker, road cyclist, and skier, Dr. Geyer enjoys staying active and being outside. His wife is a native Houstonian, and together they are most active in trying to keep up with their two young children.
