The field of Regenerative Medicine in Orthopedics has been advancing quickly over the past 20 years. This branch of medicines is focused on creating treatment options in attempt to regenerate diseased or defective musculoskeletal tissue to restore function, reduce pain and improve anatomical structures. The early research in this field looked at transplanting healthy cartilage to the sites of damage, which showed significant benefits, but often involved open surgery. Today there are many in office procedures and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries where the patient can safely return home the same day.
