Arthritis

Arthritis is a condition that affects the musculoskeletal system, specifically causing inflammation of the joints. It is the primary cause of disability for people more than fifty-five years old, although there are some strains that can affect people of all ages. The term arthritis comes from the Greek words arthron and itis, literally meaning "joint inflammation". Arthritis actually refers to over one hundred medical conditions, with osteoarthritis being the most common. Arthritis occurs when the joints no longer work properly, resulting in pain. This can be a result of years of physical activity, illness or disease, or an accident or injury.

Arthritis can be very painful and debilitating. Although there is no cure for arthritis, there are methods available to treat the symptoms and provide a better quality of life.
