Meghan McKay is the Head Athletic Trainer (AT) for the Wales Men’s National Lacrosse Team. They are competing in the World Lacrosse Championships in Denver Colorado this week. Meghan has been planning this trip since January, 2014. She was tasked with all the logistics that go along with any team medical/orthopedic needs for a 3-week marathon of lacrosse. Meghan was able to ascertain funds and medical supplies to support the team in the World Lacrosse Championships. Meghan arrived in Colorado on July 2, and is staying very busy being the head of the fully-functional Athletic Training room. She provides the team with taping, pre- and post-game treatments, as well as providing care for the practice scrimmages and the tournament itself.
photo 2 (4)Meghan will be on-call 24/7 for these 3 weeks. She is living, eating, and socializing with the team day in and day out. However, the Welsh team is very thankful for the care Meghan is providing. The guys are not only extremely hard working but they are also hilarious.
Meghan says, "While this schedule can be grueling and seem never-ending, the guys manage to keep it light constantly. I’m so proud to be here to support this team and my heritage!"
